Hathersage and District Swimming Club was established over 75 years ago and meets on a Wednesday evening (18:00 – 19:20) during the main pool season. Our primary function is to provide basic swimming skills and affordable swimming lessons for local children, so that they are well equipped to enjoy the swimming pool facilities safely.
The club holds an annual Gala and provides opportunities for water polo, life saving activities and water safety instruction as well as swimming lessons for all abilities.
Registration for the 2017 swim club is still TBC. Places are limited and application forms will be available at the pool office from the start of the 2017 Season in March.
There is a waiting list so please get in touch if you would like to put your child’s name down.
The first swim club start date is still TBC (most likely the first Wed after the Easter Holiday).
In order to teach over 100 children to swim, we need to have a great number of adult volunteers and over the last few years we have relied heavily on people whose children have long since left the club. These volunteers would like to hand over to current parents and so this year we are introducing a Parent Volunteer Rota (similar to that operated by other clubs in the village). We will need each family to help on two or three occasions during the season. This role can either in the administration of the club or as an observer / poolside volunteer. PLEASE let us know if you have further skills to offer / would be able to teach a class.
Pool Entry Charges
Please note that swimming club fees cover membership and lesson fees but do not cover entry to the pool. Most members feel that it is beneficial to have a SEASON TICKET and indeed the cost of a junior entry is £3.50 this year so with 20 club sessions (TBC) this year, it would be economical to buy a season ticket as you would not only then benefit from free swimming at other times but also from the less crowded season ticket only times.
Members without a season ticket will be charged weekly on entry to swimming club.
