Hathersage is in North Derbyshire on the A6187 (formerly the A625) about 10 miles from Sheffield city centre. There is a regular No. 272 bus service from Sheffield, and services also operate from Bakewell, and Chesterfield.

Hathersage has a railway station on the main Manchester to Sheffield line. Some parking is available at the pool, and there is a pay and display car park just across the road.
