Well what can we say about the first annual New Year`s Day Swim!!!
The sunny weather may not have graced us but it did not deter over 100 courageous souls (including a few Lifeguards) coming down and facing the condition of our pool. With the water at a mere 6 degrees and whether in a wetsuit or bravely in just a costume, people of all ages took the plunge to start the New Year in such a unique way. Our first swimmer, in her costume, was only 10 years old.
After everyone had braved a swim, they made their way to the veranda, where there was a selection of Hot and Cold Refreshments, including Hot Dogs, & homemade soups which were kindly made by local residents. An impromptu music session by passing violinists added to the party atmosphere.
In all we made a grand total of £725.93, which all goes to the refurbishment fund for the veranda.
From all the staff and volunteers, we would like to say a big thank you to all those who came down and supported us and made this such a fantastic event.
Thank You & see you soon. There is no excuse now on a rainy day when the water is heated for not coming to swim !
