On Saturday 9thNovember, we were treated to a memorable evening of live music and dance by the young people of Hathersage and Bamford. A Talent Show in the War Memorial Hall, in aid of Hathersage Swimming Pool, showcased performers ranging from infant school age right up to young adults returning especially for the evening. A full house was captivated by the village school choir’s beautiful rendition of a 5-part round in 5 different languages; rocked by live band “Written in the Dust”; delighted by 2 different dancing groups; and thrilled by virtuoso violin and flute performances. We were also treated to a series of excellent solo and group singing performances in both English and Italian. Among others, these included several songs from Gilbert & Sullivan operettas, with up to 5-part harmonies, and three songs from West Side Story. Congratulations to everyone who made the evening so special and many thanks to the driving force in organising the evening, Angie Ward. It proves beyond doubt that Hathersage has talent!
